WHY WE DO THIS.

Tens of Thousands of Zambians are unemployed even though they have valuable qualifications, skills or expertise. Sad fact is that the present day Zambian economy cannot absorb everyone in formal employment and the “unemployable” ones are left on their own to fend for themselves through micro businesses and informal or self-employment. Any small job is acceptable as long as you can put some food (and drink!) on the table for yourself and your family. Fact is, if you can get enough of these small jobs, you can make a decent living, sometimes even better than formal employment. The benefits of formal employment is that you do not really have to worry about tomorrow’s money and your life is more “safe” and stable. Sometimes you can even get a pension. So, while everybody is waiting for stable employment, something must and can be done to make their lives as micropreneurs more rewarding.

Doing small jobs as a plumber, electrician, accountant and many other things can be beneficial because:
  • It gives you some personal dignity – nothing is more soul destroying than sitting at home doing nothing
  • It gives you experience, more importantly it gives you a VARIETY of experiences
  • It brings you in contact with a variety of customers – and each client can be an opportunity for formal employment. You never know.
  • It brings in some money and ANY money is better than no money.
